An ingredient-driven creamery in Washington, Maine.

York Hill Farm

Perhaps one of the most gourmet cheesemakers in Maine, York Hill Farm draws on several decades of cheesemaking tradition and a rich culinary experience. Currently owned by Yuki Goseki and Josh Fratoni, in their words, “York Hill Farm is an ingredient driven creamery specializing in fresh and bloomy rind cheeses.  When we took over York Hill Farm in 2019, we brought our 2 decades of experience as professional chefs and combined that with the 4 decades of cheese making experience that preceded us.  We blend cow and goat milks together to create fresh and bloomy rind cheeses with clean, bright flavors and textures that range from creamy and fudgy to gooey and velvety. These dynamic combinations have brought home many awards for our cheeses, including Best in Show 2021 and 2024 at the Maine Cheese Awards and Silver Medal at the Big E Cheese Competition 2023.”

It cannot be overstated how tasty York Hill’s cheeses are, so you have to work to find them. You can find York Hill at the Belfast, Isleboro, and Union farmers’ markets and a select few cheese shops and restaurants along the coast, all exclusively in Maine. We highly recommend following them on Instagram @yorkhillfarm to keep up to date on their goings-on.
