DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Full-time, 40 hrs/week

This position is meant to fill a vacancy created by a departing member of the management team, who handled all development activities, in addition to a variety of other responsibilities. The position has now been re-defined to focus specifically on development, as well as all the outreach, networking and board engagement activities that typical are part of the development process. This will be primarily early-stage development work and you will be building and executing a development plan from the ground up.

Job Responsibilities:

Administration

Board of Directors administration and engagement (Board communications, agendas, plan/run meetings)
Development

Execute fundraising programs (strategize, build and execute)

Membership programs

Research and schedule grant opportunities

Grant Writing

Identifying and recruiting major donor candidates

Major donor relations (existing donors)

Fundraising events (Planning and execution)

State/Federal Agency Networking and Collaborations
Other

· Support the Executive Director on an as-needed basis for general administration and operations

Required Qualifications:
-
Having a genuine passion for the state of Maine and its food and beverage ecosystems.

Development experience: Strong background and experience in non-profit development work with demonstrated results.

Formal education: Bachelor’s degree or more is highly preferred.

Prior non-profit experience: Significant, impactful work experience in the non-profit sector.

Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to convey MFBEC’s mission and goals to the staff, board, donors, partners, and the food related communities of Maine.

Job Details:

Full-time. Starting salary range - $60,000-65,000/year.

Benefits – Paid Time Off (while we currently offer no insurance coverages or retirement programs, our plan is to institute these as our development efforts allow)

Paid Time Off – 20 days per year

Work Schedule – Flexible, driven by the needs of both the candidate and MFBEC scheduling needs. Occasional evening/weekend work is required, especially during the May-Oct season.

Work Location – Generally, 4 days per week at the Wiscasset campus during the May-Oct season and primarily remote work during the Nov-April off-season. Some local travel is required for remote events, partner meetings and donor recruitment.
