Cushnoc Brewing Co.

Serving as the capital city of Augusta’s only brewery, Cushnoc Brewing Co. was founded in order to bolster the main street economy of one of the smallest state capitals in the union. The word “cushnoc” is actually an indigenous name meaning “head of tide.” And back during early colonization, was the designated name for the trading post/settlement that eventually grew to the city of Augusta! In continual nods to the history of the region, the blockhouse featured on Cushnoc’s cans is a reference to Fort Western, the oldest wooden fort in America, right around the corner.

Founded by Tobias Parkhurst in conjunction with local community members: Casey Hynes and James Bass as well as Chris Geerlings, who moved up here all the way from Georgia, Cushnoc is a labor of local love. The team’s explicit goal is to revitalize the communities Cushnoc settles in, with the flagship brewpub serving up both extremely quaffable beers and delicious pizza, the annex location out East doling out unique events as well as weekly trivia, and the new cantina location bringing Mexican-inspired flavors to Waterville.

If you’re heading to Augusta, you simply must visit Cushnoc. And while you’re there, don’t forget to follow them on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date on their upcoming events!
