Founded in 1994, Coffee By Design has always emphasized positive change worldwide through fair pay for coffee farmers at origin, fundraising blends and sponsorships of arts and events in Maine.

With stringent coffee-buying criteria, the Coffee By Design team understands how coffee plays a crucial role in worldwide trade and has visited numerous coffee regions to find coffee and partners that meet and share their high environmental and economic sustainability standards.

Now a 100% woman-owned business, Coffee By Design has one coffeehouse that serves as a community hub within Portland and a 21,000 sq. ft. artisan roastery where they create their full-bodied blends. Their coffees are roast-to-order so that each bag is as fresh as possible, whether shipped wholesale to a company or to a family’s doorstep. From single origin coffee, to blends, flavored roasts, and decaf varieties, there is a roast for everyone- and if you purchase your beans online, you can choose the grind level of the coffee so it works for you.
