Eastern Lincoln County

Lincoln County, part of the Midcoast region and home to Maine Tasting Center, is chock full of local food adventure, even in the snowy months. Whether you’re exploring small towns or tucked-away farms, this area offers countless delights for food lovers seeking a cozy winter Maine experience.

Start your journey at the Wintertide Holiday Market (usually occurring for a few days in mid-December) at Blenhei Park in Bremen, Maine's largest cherry orchard. This enchanting seasonal market is brimming with local goods, handcrafted wares, and holiday cheer, making it the perfect place to find gifts or treat yourself. While you’re there, pick up one of their gorgeous sakura blossom-inspired products, one of their signatures.

Next, visit the Farm Market and Butcher Shop at Broad Arrow Farm, where pasture-raised meats and other provisions await. Their dedication to sustainable farming shines through in every product. Looking to stretch your legs? Stop at Pemaquid Pond Preserve for a quick walk or snowshoe through the woods.

About a half hour away in Waldoboro, you'll find the cheese fridge at Lakin’s Gorges Cheese/East Forty Farm & Dairy is not to be missed—pick up some of Allison Lakin’s award-winning cheeses. If you're really looking for a memorable experience, plan your trip in advance and book a private fondue party for an indulgent experience. While you're in Waldoboro, stop by Borealis Breads to stock up on their iconic sourdough or other baked goods. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of their bread-making process while you’re there.

Cap off your day with a Friday evening pizza night at Uproot Pie Company in Thomaston (alright, not technically Lincoln County, but still well worth a visit!). Their wood-fired pizzas, crafted with local ingredients, are a culinary delight and the perfect way to end the day. Or, if you're planning ahead, check out their roster of upcoming hands-on cooking classes for a next-level experience! Looking for somewhere to enjoy all the bread, cheese and meat you picked up earlier in the day? Head south to Oxbow Brewing in Newcastle, where you can enjoy their farmhouse-style beers alongside a BYO picnic-style dinner. Whether you gather with friends or savor the evening solo, it’s a relaxing and delicious way to celebrate the flavors of Eastern Lincoln county while enjoying the natural beauty of December in Maine.
