Have you ever tried South African Indian curry? Durban Curry is a celebrated South African dish, born of the country's diverse blend of indigenous African, Dutch, British, Indian, and Malay influences. Born in Cape Town and raised in Durban, South Africa, Concepta Jones now shares her culinary roots with her community in Maine.

On October 12th, join Concepta at Maine Tasting Center to learn about South African Indian curry, try your hand at making it, and make some art!


Start off prepping the meal with Concepta as she guides you through the creation of authentic South African Indian chicken curry. Ingredients are fresh and sourced from local farms - cut, sliced and chopped from scratch.

Then, as the aromatic curry simmers, your artistic creations come to life as you immerse yourself in a hands-on art session. The featured project will be a fusion of water colors and pebble art to make personalized greeting cards.


The event culminates in a shared feast - savor the very curry you've crafted while chatting with your classmates and enjoying a Maine-made beverage (included with the cost of your ticket) from the Maine Tasting Center bar.

It's more than an event; it's an experience—a celebration of creativity, culture, and community. Cook, create, and indulge in the vibrant flavors of South African Indian cuisine!
